It seems like some parents can't wait to begin training their child on how to use the potty and others would prefer to delay it as long as possible. Where do you sit on the potty divide?

Whether you are looking forward to it or not it’s time to accept that your baby isn’t a baby any longer.  They are getting older, making that transition from being dependant on you for everything to a little independent being who will fight to do as much for themselves as they can.  And part of that process towards becoming their own person is going through potty training and learning to use the potty on their own.  

Can you imagine what it will be like when they can take themselves off to the bathroom whenever they need to go?  Without asking you?  You won't need to keep tabs on them and they'll be able go when they feel like it, which is kind of like how it is with them in diapers, only the best part is you won’t have to clean up after them! 

Your child independently taking themselves off to use the potty probably seems like a long way off right now but it will happen.  And you'll look back on the time spent potty training  and struggle to remember all the details. Sure while you're going through it, it's a different story.  And during that time you need all the help you can get because it can feel like its all just a lot of extra work for you - keeping track of where they are at, cleaning up any accidents, timing toilet breaks with outings, helping them pull up their own pants.   But it does get easier.  Really!
